Winter Sports

One of the best parts about High School South is the expansion of new sports that were not available in middle school. Ice hockey is one of these sports, with a unique twist. Players on the ice hockey team are from south and east for a combined experience where you get to meet new faces as well as build friendships. Regardless of what anyone says, chess is regarded as a sport here at High School South. Coach Langford will accept anyone who is willing to have a good time and play chess. Track and field in the winter? That’s right, at High School South we have track and field in both the winter as well as the spring. Indoor winter track is one of the more popular sports where there is a spot for everyone. If you have any questions, contact Coach Kelly at jkelly1@trschools.com
The girls’ winter track team is a force to be reckoned with. From dominating the 100m to setting school records in shot put, there’s a spot for everyone. The unique thing about winter track is some athletes only do track in the winter since they play a different sport in the spring, allowing new friends to be made that you would not have met without an additional season for track and field. These hard working boys of golf show all the other teams what they’re missing with their willingness to push through whatever is thrown at them.
